QAir has already three AW139 in service. The two ordered AgustaWestland AW139 will enter into service by December 2018 and will be based in Townsville. In order to assure the best possible coverage for the states community, the helicopters will be used for North/South fleet rotation when needed.

In respect of Queensland´s helicopter fleet modernization programme, Police, Fire and Emergency Services Minister Mark Ryan says: “The two new AW139 helicopters replace two ageing Bell helicopters which are more than 20-years-old.” “They will have the ability to work with police and all emergency services, including aerial surveillance, search and rescue, and hospital patient transfers [and are] able to travel further and faster, providing more coverage for more Queenslanders.”, Ryan explains.

Queensland Government Air (QGAir) delivers aviation services to the people and government of Queensland, Australia. They operate 7 fixed wing and 5 helicopter aircraft. Bases are at Brisbane Airport, Archerfield, Townsville, Cairns, Mt. Isa and Horn Island.
