Industry ICBC Leasing signs framework purchase agreement for 55 Comac C919

Comac has signed a Framework Purchase Agreement for 55 C919 aircraft with ICBC Leasing in Beijing.

With the 55 C919 aircraft signed in this agreement, the total number of C919 aircraft ordered by ICBC Leasing has reached 100. The Chinese leasing specialist has become the largest C919 customer. In addition to the 30 ARJ21-700 aircraft ordered previously, ICBC Leasing has become the largest customer of the two domestic aircraft developed by Comac with total orders of 130 aircraft. 

A first financial strategic cooperation framework agreement between Comac and ICBC Leasing was signed in 2009. ICBC Leasing purchased 45 C919 aircraft and 30 ARJ21-700 aircraft respectively in 2011 and 2015. The additional 55 C919 aircraft purchased are part of a closer cooperation of both companies which includes market promotion and policy research.

ICBC Leasing, as a subsidiary of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), is one of the largest leasing companies in the world. The service provider with over 70 airline customers has a portfolio of 305 aircraft including 130 Boeing, 156 Airbus, 15 Embraer and 4 Bombardier planes.  

Comac’s C919 is a narrow-body twinjet airliner, developed in China. The development was launched in 2008 and the first jet rolled out in 2015 and first flew in May 2017. The total number of orders for the C919 has amounted to 785. A first delivery of the jet that should compete with the Airbus A320Family and Boeing’s 737 is planned in 2020.
