Start-Ups Flybondi receives first Boeing 737

Argentinia’s start-up airline Flybondi has received its first aircraft. The Boeing 737-800, registered LV-HKS, was introduced during an event in Córdoba, Argentina.

Leased from SMBC Aviation Capital, the 12 years old aircraft is configured with 189 seats in all economy class. The arrival of MSN 33821 marks a milestone in the young company history. Altogether, Flybondi aims to lease 10 Boeing 737 to fulfil their operating plans. The airlines start-up capital totals USD 75 million.

Flybondi is the first Argentina based low-cost carrier and plans to commence operations in 2018. The airline plans to fly from its bases at Cordoba and Buenos Aires El Palomar to 12 destinations. Domestic destinations like Córdoba, Mendoza, El Calafate and Puerto Iguazú will be served.

2 out of the 10 planned aircraft will fly from Córdoba, while 8 will be stationed in Buenos Aires El Palomar. This airport originally is a military airport, used by the Argentinian Air Force. Along with Flybondi, Norwegian Air Argentina plans to operate flights from here. Located 20km from the city centre, the airport also offers the opportunity to enable fast city-transfers.

Until 2021, Flybondi wants to operate with 28 aircraft on 43 routes. Targeted passenger volume is 8 million, with 1500 employed people.
