A first ATR 72-500 for FlyValan has touched down at Genoa International Airport (Italy) this Monday. The arrival of YR-FVL, which is named after the north-western Italian coastal region “Liguria”, supports the airline´s ambition to start commercial operations in mid-December. Though, this date is conditioned by the confirmation for the AOC (Air Operator Certificate) by the Romanian CAA. Also, the airline must achieve a commercial performance to be able to commence flights. FlyValan was forced to postpone its first flight due to outstanding AOC.

FlyValan wants to offer three routes from its operative base in Genoa to Brussels, Trieste and Zurich. An additional route to Barcelona has been postponed to mid-January – February 2018 due to the current political situation, accompanied by low demand for tickets. Once fully established in the market, the airline plans to build up a network of domestic Italian and European routes. The carrier plans to acquire additional ATR72 aircraft.

Genoa International Airport is located 7 km west of the city of Genoa and the most important airport for the region of Liguria. In 2015, the airport handled 1,3 Mio. passengers. Major airlines are Volotea, Ryanair and Alitalia.
