Airlines AerCap signs lease agreement with euroAtlantic for two Boeing 787

Leasing company AerCap has announced, that it has signed a lease agreement with euroAtlantic for two Boeing 787-8s.

The agreement was signed by AerCap Holdings N.V. and euroAtlantic Airways, a leading provider of ACMI services from Portugal. According to AerCap, the deliveries of the two Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner have been scheduled for spring 2021. The aircraft are set to become the first 787s to be based in Portugal.

With the new aircraft, euroAtlantic seeks to modernize its fleet. Currently, the charter airline is operating with ageing Boeing 767-300 aircraft. The aircraft are all configured in an all-economy variant and can accommodate between 246 and 309 passengers.

Initially, Boeing´s 787-8 Dreamliner can accommodate 242 passengers over a range of 7,355 nautical miles (13,620 kilometres). euroAtlantic has yet to announce, if the aircraft will be fitted with an all-economy cabin as well.

Eugénio Fernandes, CEO of euroAtlantic Airways added: “We are very pleased as euroAtlantic Airways will be the first Portuguese operator of the ultra-modern 787 Dreamliner [...] The 787’s incredible fuel efficiency and range provide tremendous flexibility for our customers as they profitably operate the airplane on a wide range of route networks and business models such as ACMI’s, Wet Lease or Charter flights.”

AerCap is a global leader in aircraft leasing. The company currently owns, manages or expects 1,334 aircraft in their fleet. Approximately 200 airlines are currently flying with AerCap aircraft from 80 countries around the world. AerCap has its headquarters in Dublin and offices in various cities.

EuroAtlantic Airways is a Portuguese airline specialized in leasing and air charter (ACMI). The carrier was founded in August 1993 and has its main operational base at Lisbon Airport, from where it operates regular services to Guinea-Bissau in western Africa. The fleet consists of one Boeing 737-800NG, six Boeing 767-300s and one Boeing 777-200ER.
