Airlines Air Mauritius Received Its First Airbus A350-900

Air Mauritius has received its first Airbus A350-900 on Friday, October 20, 2017. The airline is now the first carrier in the Indian Ocean that operates this aircraft type. The wide body aircraft will be operated in a two-class-configuration, offering 28 business class seats, as well as 298 economy class seats. The aircraft was welcomed in Mauritius with a traditional water salute. The new A350 will bear the name “Le Morne Brabant”, which is the highest mountain on the island.

Air Mauritius introduced its new inflight entertainment system and its latest cabin product in its new long haul aircraft. The airline has ordered a total of six Airbus A350-900, from which four will be purchased from Airbus directly. Two others will be leased from AerCap. According to the official press release by Airbus, the carrier will use the new aircraft to expand its network to Europe, Asia and to Africa.

According to Airbus, Air Mauritius already operates a fleet of 10 Airbus aircraft including six A340-300s, two A330-200s and two A319s on its regional and long haul services. To date, Airbus has booked a total of 858 firm orders for the A350 XWB from 45 customers worldwide.
