The delivery of Air Senegal´s first A330-900 was celebrated during an event in Toulouse. The flag-carrier has also become the first African airline to fly Airbus´ new state-of-the-art widebody aircraft. Registered as 9H-SZN, the first A330neo for Air Senegal was ferried from Toulouse to Dakar. Since then, the aircraft has been operating the route to Paris once a day.

Air Senegal has configurated its A330neo in a three-class variant. In Business class, 32 passengers can be accommodated, 21 in Premium Plus and 237 in Economy Class. This configuration will help the airline to boost and develop its medium and long-haul network.

The airline is expecting to take delivery of a second A330-900 in 2019. This second aircraft will help Air Senegal to fly to intercontinental destinations in North America and Brazil. The initial order for the two aircraft has been announced and confirmed in February 2018.

New wings, enhanced aerodynamics and curved wingtip design, will help the A330-900 to deliver better operational performances than older generation aircraft. Airbus has gained experience from developing the A350 and has brought in these perceptions to make the A330neo the most advanced long-haul aircraft on the market.

It is being powered by two Rolls-Royse Trent 7000 engines, which offer a new level of efficiency. Twenty-five per cent of fuel will be saved per seat compared to previous generation competitors. Additionally, a new Airspace cabin has been installed by Airbus, which provides passengers with more personal space and the latest in-flight entertainment systems.

Air Senegal is the flag-carrier airline of the Republic of Senegal and was founded in 2016. Last year in May, the operator commenced operations from its hub at Dakar. The current fleet includes two Airbus A319s, which have been leased from Lessors Avolon and Apollo, two brand new ATR 72s and one Airbus A330-900.

From its operational hub, Air Senegal operates scheduled flights to Bissau, Abidjan, Banjul, Bamako, Cotonou, Conakry, Ouagadougou, Paris, Praia and Zuguinchor. Air Senegal currently has a codeshare partnership with Air Cote d'Ivoire.
