Airlines Air Seychelles orders two Airbus A320neo

Air Seychelles has announced to order two Airbus A320neo aircraft over the course of its strategic business plan.

The order was signed by Air Seychelles Chief Executive Officer, Remco Althuis and the Airbus Vice President, Sales Sub-Sahara Africa and Indian Ocean, Hadi Akoum during a ceremony held in Beau Vallon.

Deliveries are expected to take place in the second quarter of 2019. The A320neo will help Air Seychelles to increase its capacity on the Mumbai and Johannesburg routes. Due to significant fuel savings by new high-bypass engines and aerodynamic Sharklets, the carrier will experience lower operational costs at the same moment.

Remco Althuis, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles, said: “We are delighted to once again work with Airbus to bring the most technologically advanced and efficient aircraft across our regional network […] Hence as part of the strategic plan, this new order will not only enable the airline to gradually replace its existing jet fleet with modern new aircraft, but it will also enable Air Seychelles to further strengthen its business by operating in a more efficient manner.”

Air Seychelles´ A320neos will be equipped with a state-of-the-art inflight product, comprising the latest trends in the air travel industry. The carrier stated, that its passengers will experience a greater level of comfort and a better travel experience overall.

Air Seychelles is the national airlines of the Republic of Seychelles. The carrier is headquartered at Mahé, where the airline has its operational base as well. Its fleet currently consists of two Airbus A320ceo and one Airbus A330-200 widebody aircraft. Furthermore, five DHC-6-400 Twin Otter operate on regional routes. Air Seychelles serves five countries and 6 destinations.
