Airlines American Airlines to add 20 new routes for Summer 2020

American Airlines has released, that it plans to add 200 new routes for the Summer 2020 schedule. Both domestic and international services will be added.

A mix of international and domestic services will be added for next year´s summer season. This latest announcement represents American Airlines´ ambitions to further grow its network.

From Charlotte, American will fly to Martha´s Vineyard on Saturdays, from Reagan National Airport the airline will add flights to Traverse City. Dallas Fort Worth Airport will see American adding Fairbanks and Portland and from Los Angeles, the carrier will fly to Bozeman. From LaGuardia, American will serve Bozeman Yellowstone and Kalispell and from Miami new services to Jackson and Des Moines will be available.

Chicago O´Hare and Philadelphia are the airports with the most additional routes. From Chicago, American will fly to Anchorage, Budapest, Fairbanks, Krakow and Prague, while the carrier will add flights from Philadelphia to Bozeman Yellowstone, Casablanca, Nantucket, Martha´s Vineyard, Reykjavik and Cherry Capital.

The new routes to Casablanca can be related to Royal Air Maroc joining the oneworld alliance in January 2020. The new carrier in the alliance will allow American to offer new connecting services for its customers.

Furthermore, American Airlines has announced to start services between Dallas Forth Worth and Tel Aviv. The carrier said that the demand between Israel and the United States continues to grow every year. American plans to serve Tel Aviv three times a week with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

Vasu Raja, American’s Senior Vice President of Network Strategy commented: “Every year, we evaluate our network and look to create more routes and serve unique destinations whether we’re entering new markets like Casablanca or adding more service to places like Traverse City, Michigan [...] We continue to deliver the best network with the most options for our customers domestically and internationally during the most popular vacation time of the year.”

“Our future is bright, and we see summer 2020 as an opportunity for growth in the leisure destinations our customers truly value,” Raja continued. “We have 20 new seasonal routes to choose from — narrowing down where to go will be the hardest part.”

American Airlines is one of the largest carriers in the U.S. and currently offers flights to 365 destinations in 61 countries. The airline has several hubs across the country and employs more than 130,000 people worldwide. Currently, the fleet consists of 940 aircraft.
