Airlines Cobalt Air joins IATA

Cyprian airline Cobalt Air has joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The certificate was handed over at a ceremony held at Larnaca Airport. Cobalt Air is the only Cyprus registered airline to be a member of the IATA.

Andrew Madar, CEO at Cobalt Air said: “The positive progress of Cobalt Air continues. We are proud to join the international aviation family of IATA members. This achievement is special because it has been attained just one year after our start of operations. It is a testament to the highly experienced team at Cobalt.”

Rafael Schvartzman, IATA’s Regional Vice President for Europe, added: “Cyprus and aviation are intertwined, so we are extremely happy to welcome Cobalt Air to the IATA family, and have a member airline in this great country. We look forward to partnering together for the benefit of Cyprus and its connectivity with Europe and the world.”

The airline will now focus on establishing partnerships with other international airlines, who are members of the IATA. Cobalt Air hopes to seal codeshare and interline agreements. In the long run, the airline will offer its customers global travel connections.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is a trade association of 278 worldwide airlines. Its aim is to support the activity of airlines and helps to formulate standards and policies in the industry.

Cobalt Air is a Cypriot airline, headquartered in Nicosia. The airline´s operational base is at Larnaca International Airport. The carrier operates flights with two Airbus A319s and four Airbus A320s. Cobalt Air serves 22 destinations in 12 different countries.
