By an extended codeshare agreement with Lufthansa Oman Air is broadening its European network. The national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman and Lufthansa have been cooperating in codeshare for the past year. Now the airlines add European destinations to the codeshare route portfolio. From Muscat International Airport passengers can connect to Madrid, Brussels, Vienna and Prague via Lufthansa’s hubs in Frankfurt and Munich.

Engineer Abdulaziz Al Raisi, CEO, Oman Air said: “Strategic codeshares are a crucial way for us to broaden customer choice. Our continued relationship with Lufthansa is very important for Oman Air, and we are delighted to offer our valued guests even better connectivity in Europe.”

With the year-old codeshare agreement Lufthansa resumed direct offers from Frankfurt and Munich to Muscat in 2017. The airline had given up these connections in 2015 and now offers customers non-stop flights with Oman Air.

Oman Air, the official flagship carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, was founded in 1993 and has since seen considerable growth. Over the past 25 years, Oman Air has helped to establish Muscat International Airport as an important hub in the Middle East. The airline’s fleet consists of four Boeing 787-8, three 787-9 Dreamliner, six Airbus 330-300s, four Airbus 330-200s, five Boeing 737-900s, 21 Boeing 737-800, four Embraer 175s and two 737 MAX. In 2018 deliveries of five new MAX aircraft and three 787-9s are expected.
