During an official delivery event held at Toulouse in France, Airbus has handed Corsair its first state-of-the-art Airbus A330-900 aircraft. The French charter airline will use its newest addition to the fleet to establish new routes and to modernize its fleet.

In total, Corsair has signed a purchase agreement for five A330neo aircraft. Deliveries will take place over the coming years, but this initial represents a milestone for the airline, as Corsair is seeking to become an all-Airbus A330 operator.

By standardizing its fleet, the Airline hopes to gain cost advantages in pilot and crew training and maintenance. To maintain a single-Aircraft fleet is much easier and more cost efficient, as processes can be learned faster and workflows, as well as problem solutions can be developed easier.

Corsair has configured its A330neo in a three-class variant that accommodates 352 passengers on board. Throughout the cabin, WiFi and In-Flight Enterntainment (IFE) will be available for the customers. The state-of-the-art cabin leads to a better cabin experience and will enhance the overall travel well-being for the passengers.

The A330-900 is the larger brother in the A330neo family, which also consists of the A330-800. It is being powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines and this new Corsair A330-900 will also be the first A330neo to feature an increased MTOW (maximum take-off-weight) of 251 tonnes.

For long-haul operations, the aircraft has the ability to fly to destinations as far as 13,400km away. This is of special interest for Corsair, as the French carrier seeks to offer flights from France to holiday destinations around the globe.

Regarding the partnership between Airbus and Corsair, the manufacturer stated: “Corsair, which already operates an Airbus fleet of five A330 Family aircraft, became a member of the Airbus Skywise ‘Open Data Platform’ in 2020, thus benefiting from several Skywise-based services, such as a real-time in-service fleet performance analysis capability (aircraft health monitoring), reliability analysis and predictive maintenance.“

Corsair International is a charter-airline with headquarters in Rungis, France. The main operational base is located at Paris-Orly Airport, from which the carrier performs flights to French overseas territories, Africa and North America.

Founded 39 years ago in May 1981, Corsair operates with a fleet of one Airbus A330-200, four Airbus A33-300s and now one A330-900.
