Airlines Etihad Airways and PIA relaunch codeshare agreement

Etihad Airways and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) have announced, that the airlines have relaunched their codeshare partnership.

With the relaunch of the codeshare agreement, customers of both airlines will see greater access to the respective destination networks. The new codeshare flight can be booked since 13 November 2019, for travel from 26 November this year.

The partnership will see Etihad Airways place its “EY” airline code on services from PIA to and from Abu Dhabi to Lahore, Peshawar and Islamabad. PIA on the other hand will place its “PK” code on Etihad services between Abu Dhabi and Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. Additionally, on services from the UAE to Amsterdam, Bahrain, Colombo Chicago, Frankfurt, Los Angeles, Madrid, Moscow, Washington D.C., Zurich, and subject to government approval, to Amman, Athens, Brisbane, Melbourne, Nairobi, Rome and Sydney.

Robin Kamark, Etihad Airways Chief Commercial Officer, commented: “The UAE and Pakistan share strong historical, commercial and cultural links and this partnership with PIA, one of the oldest and most experienced airlines in Asia, is a natural progression for both carriers. It enables us to cater to the strong customer demand for both point-to-point business and VFR travel between the UAE and major cities in Pakistan, and to provide seamless travel options for the large Pakistani diaspora around the world, connecting through our hub in Abu Dhabi.”

Etihad has been serving Pakistan since November 2004. Currently, the carrier operates two daily services from Abu Dhabi to Islamabad and 11 weekly flights to Lahore. In addition, Etihad flies daily to Karachi. PIA on the other hand has been serving Abu Dhabi for more than three decades and currently flies seven times a week to the city.

Etihad Airways is the second-largest carrier in the UAE and was founded in November 2003. 81 destinations around the world are currently served with a fleet of 113 aircraft, including 19 Airbus A320s, 10 A321s, 11 A330s, 10 A380s, 25 Boeing 777s and 36 787.

PIA is the flag-carrier airline of Pakistan and was founded 73 years ago in 1946. Main hubs have been installed at Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore. PIA serves 56 destinations with four ATR 42s, five ATR 72s, 11 Airbus A320s and 12 Boeing 777s.
