The roll-out was celebrated with an official ceremony, during which the new special paint was presented to the public. Named “Lani”, ANA´s first A380 features a livery that presents the Hawaiian green sea turtle.

It is the first of three Airbus A380 superjumbos that the carrier will receive. “Lani” is planned to be delivered within the first quarter of 2019 and will then operate on the popular leisure route between Narita, Japan and Honolulu, Hawaii. The other two aircraft will join ANA´s fleet afterwards and will receive their own special livery as well.

In total, the Airbus paint team painted ANA´s first flagship with 16 different shades of colour over a time period of 21 days. The A380 has a surface of 3,600 square meters, meaning that the team needed to put on 3,300 litres of paint.

After the presentation of the new coat of paint, the aircraft will undergo cabin installation at Hamburg. Then, the aircraft is set to perform various taxi and flight tests, with the customer acceptance flight being the final one before delivery.

Over the course of the testing period, all cabin systems will be thoroughly tested. At the end of the first quarter 2019, the aircraft will be ferried to Toulouse, where the delivery ceremony and ferry flight to Japan will take place. ANA is set to become the country´s first A380 operator.

ANA will benefit from the A380´s good operating performances and the great passenger appeal. The prestigious aircraft offers more space than any other aircraft and is the most efficient solution to meeting growth, carrying a large amount of passengers, and reducing costs and emissions.

Currently, Airbus has delivered a total of 232 Airbus A380 aircraft. The superjumbo is in service with 14 airlines worldwide.
