Jeddah-based low-cost carrier Flyadeal, which is owned by Saudi Arabian Airlines, has taken delivery of its first owned new Airbus A320neo to join the fleet. This milestone represents a new era for the carrier, as now more efficient and cost-saving operations can be performed.

The aircraft is the first that is being completely owned by the airline. It joins an existing Airbus A320neo, which is leased and joined the fleet back in August 2020. But this new aircraft is the first of the 65 aircraft-strong order Flyadeal announced over the course of Paris Airshow 2019.

Flyadeal´s Airbus A320neo is being powered by state-of-the-art CPF LEAP-1A engines, that allow the low-cost airline to operate with outstanding operational, economic and environmental performance. In comparison with previous-generation aircraft, the A320neo safes up to 20 percent in fuel.

According to Airbus, the Flyadeal A320neos are being configured to accommodate 186 passengers in an all-economy class layout. The A320neo cabin is one of the most modern airliner cabins in the world.

Regarding the operational opportunities, Airbus wrote in an statement: "The A320neo is the ideal aircraft for Flyadeal to grow and expand its domestic and regional network. Demonstrating the operational flexibility of the A320neo, the aircraft will allow the airline to efficiently enhance its operations to additional networks and foster closer links with countries across the region and beyond."

The A320neo Family is one of the most popular mid-range aircraft in the industry. The aircraft family consists of the smaller Airbus A319neo, the A320neo and the larger A321neo and A321LR. To date, Airbus received more than 7400 orders from over 120 customers for the aircraft family.

Flyadeal is a low-cost carrier that commenced operations in September 2017. The current fleet consists of the two Airbus 320neos and eleven Airbus 320ceos. Flyadeal is owned by flag-carrier Saudia and has its main operational hub at King Abdulaziz International Airport.
