This strategic move is the next step after the initial phase of the extensive partnership of both carriers.

FlyDubai’s current loyalty programme named Open will be fully integrated into Skywards. Current Open members can convert their reward points to Skyward miles until end of July.

According to FlyDubai’s website more than 650,000 passengers have benefitted from the Emirates and flydubai partnership since its start. Both carriers have announced a cooperation in July 2017, that includes code-sharing on selected routes as well as cooperation in areas such as airport operations, network planning and other commercial operations.

Emirates operates a fleet of Airbus A380 and Boeing 777. The airline focuses on long-haul flights from its hub in Dubai International Airport.

FlyDubai operates a fleet of 61 Boeing 737 Family aircraft on regional and international routes from its hub at Dubai International Airport. Beside 55 B737-800, the airline has received the first six new B737 MAX8. FlyDubai has ordered a total of 125 B737 MAX8, 70 MAX9 and 50 MAX10.

The launched cooperation between both airlines allows a connection of both route networks. Both airlines can profit from a high number of transfer passengers at Dubai International Airport.
