Airlines India’s Vistara to lease seven A320Neo from GECAS

The aviation leasing and financing specialist GECAS has announced to lease seven Airbus A320Neo to the Indian carrier Vistara.

GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) has announced, that it will lease seven Airbus A320Neo to the Indian airline following deliveries in the latter part of 2019 and continuing to 2020.

“With the signing of this agreement we welcome GECAS as one of our new leasing partners for Vistara’s next phase of fleet expansion,” said Mr. Leslie Thng, CEO, Vistara. “The Neo - with advanced technology, offering the fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and improved range attributed to CFM’s LEAP-1A engines – will further strengthen our domestic network and expand the regional international operations which we plan to launch soon,” Mr. Thng added.

Vistara has ordered a total of 58 Airbus A320Neo Family aircraft. The first eight A320Neo have already been delivered. Most of the ordered aircraft will be leased from third-party lessors like GECAS.

Vistara was founded in 2013 as a joint venture between India’s Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines. The carrier launched commercial operations in 2015 and operates a fleet of 21 aircraft, including eight A320Neo and 13 A320. Since its start, the carrier has flown over 11 million passengers. From its base at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, Vistara offers flights to several domestic destinations. For first long-haul operations the carrier has ordered six Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

GECAS is one of the largest companies in aviation leasing and financing. The company owns or services a fleet of more than 1900 aircraft, including over 1550 fixed wing aircraft.
