Airlines MEA and Saudia expand codeshare agreement

Middle East Airlines and Saudi Arabian Airlines have announced, that the airlines have expanded their existing codeshare agreement.

The expanded agreement will see both airlines adding their respective airline codes on flights between Lebanon and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Included are now all flights that are being sold and operated by the airlines on the routes between Beirut and Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.

All new codeshare flights are available for booking from August 1, 2018, while the codeshare will be effective for travel from August 15, 2018. Middle East Airlines will use the airline code “ME”, while Saudia is using “SV” on the respective flights.

Currently, Middle East Airlines operates a total of 38 weekly flights from Lebanon to the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. Saudia Airlines on the other hand flies 19 times a week from Jeddah and Dammam to the capital city of Lebanon, Beirut.

Effectively, the number of scheduled flights operated by both MEA and Saudia will increase to 57 weekly flights between the two countries. This will enable passengers to have a larger choice and to use a more convenient schedule for their needs.

The carriers started their partnership back in year 2007 with a first codeshare agreement.

In addition, frequent flyer members of both airlines will earn and redeem miles on both carriers. MEA and Saudia are members of the SkyTeam Alliance. Frequent flyers will have access to lounges, priority services and greater luggage allowance.

Saudi Arabian Airlines is the national carrier of Saudi Arabia. It is based and headquartered in Jeddah and is wholly-owned by the government. Subsidiary airline is Flyadeal. Saudia currently operates with a fleet of over 150 aircraft, including three Airbus A319s, 43 A320s, 15 A321s, 32 A330s, two Boeing B747s, 45 B777s and 13 B787 Dreamliners. Saudia serves 115 destinations in 44 countries worldwide.

Middle East Airlines is the flag-carrier airline of Lebanon. Base of operations and headquarters are located at the country´s capital city Beirut. MEA operates with an all-Airbus fleet of 13 Airbus A320s and five A330-200s. In total, 37 destinations are being served in 23 countries.
