Airlines Oman Air and Bangkok Airways announce codeshare agreement

Oman Air and Bangkok Airways have signed a codeshare agreement, enabling better connectivity between Muscat and popular cities in Thailand.

Mr. Pakorn Rattanarod, Director Route Profitability and Alliance at Bangkok Airways and Mr. Aboudy Nasser, Senior Vice President of Network Planning and Revenue Management at Oman Air signed the codeshare agreement, which will commence from April 1st, 2018.

Oman Air will add its designator “WY” on eight domestic Bangkok Airways routes. Roundtrips like Bangkok-Chiang Rai, Bangkok-Chiang Mai, Bangkok-Phuket, Bangkok-Krabi, Bangkok-Lampang, Bangkok-Trat, Bangkok-Sukhothai and Bangkok-Samui are included.

The agreement enables passengers to experience enhanced connectivity and seamless connections to popular destinations in Thailand. Oman Air customers, who travel with Bangkok Airway will be eligible to visit the lounge and to enjoy an in-flight meal.

For Oman Air, Thailand becomes an increasingly important market, as passenger numbers are rising on routes to Thailand.

Recently, Bangkok Airways announced to add more flight between Bangkok and Mandalay and that it has inaugurated a route from Chiang Mai to Hanoi.

Bangkok Airways is a regional airline, headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand. The carrier operates a fleet of 37 aircraft, including 14 Airbus A319, nine A320 and 15 ATR 72 turboprops. Bangkok Airways flies to 11 countries on 38 routes. Overall, 30 destinations are being served. The airline celebrates 50 years of existence this year.

Oman Air is the national airline of Oman and headquartered in Muscat. Operational bases are Salalah Airport and Muscat Airport. The carrier has 49 aircraft in its fleet, such as 10 Airbus A330, 28 Boeing 737 and seven Boeing 787. Oman Air has taken a delivery of two new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in 2018.
