Airlines Qatar Airways announces expansion plans

Qatar Airways has announced new expansion plans at the ITB Berlin 2018. Altogether, 16 new routes will be opened between 2018 and 2019.

During a press conference held at ITB Berlin 2018, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Mr. Akbar Al Baker announced 16 new destinations for Qatar Airways´ network. As a first Gulf-airline, Qatar Airways will start operations to Luxembourg.

Following destinations will be started between 2018 and 2019: London Gatwick (United Kingdom), Cardiff (United Kingdom), Lisbon (Portugal), Tallinn (Estonia), Valletta (Malta), Cebu and Davao (Philippines), Langkawi (Malaysia), Da Nang (Vietnam), Bodrum, Antalya and Hatay (Turkey), Mykonos and Thessaloniki (Greece) and Málaga (Spain).

Additionally, Warsaw, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Prague and Kyiv will be served twice a day, while Madrid, Barcelona and the Maldives will be served triple daily.

Recently, Qatar Airways has received its first A350-1000, being the launch customer for the aircraft.

Qatar Airways is the flag carrier of Qatar and is headquartered in Doha, Qatar. The fleet consists of 211 aircraft, including Airbus A319, A320, A321, A330, A340-600, A350 and A380. The airline also operates with Boeing 777 and 787. Qatar Airways serves 81 countries on 240 routes. 163 destinations are being served.
