Airlines Royal Jordanian and Tunisair sign codeshare agreement

Royal Jordanian and Tunisair have agreed on signing a codeshare agreement, that will help both carriers to enhance their strategic partnership.

With the free sale codeshare agreement, Tunisair will now place its carrier code “TU” on Tunisair flights between Amman and Tunis. Royal Jordanian operates this route four times weekly. According to both carriers, the codeshare flights are now open for sale.

Both Tunisair and Royal Jordanian aim to further deepen their cooperation. The flag carriers hope to improve their respective passenger traffic on the route.

Passengers of Tunisair will benefit from convenient options to fly to Amman and to connect to further destinations in Royal Jordanian´s network. Moreover, Royal Jordanian hopes to contribute to an increasing number of tourists to visit the country.

Royal Jordanian President/CEO Stefan Pichler stated: “We are glad to offer our services to Tunisair passengers, who will experience compelling services on board our aircraft. This partnership is the first step on the way to enhancing relations with Tunisair, and will bring great benefit to both airlines, from a commercial perspective.”

Tunisair CEO Elyes Mnakbi added: “We are delighted to be working with Royal Jordanian as a leading carrier in the Middle East and provide high quality services to passengers on the ground and in the air. This agreement is a new step in the strategic and historical partnership between our countries. It is also an added value towards enhanced air traffic between our companies.”

After the conclusion of the new codeshare agreement, Royal Jordanian has now 17 codeshare partners. The airline has been flying to Tunis for nearly 40 years.

Tunisair is the flag carrier airline of Tunisia. The airline was founded in 1948 and commenced operations a year later. Currently, its fleet consists of two Airbus A319s, 14 A320s, two A330-200s and seven Boeing 737s. Subsidiary airline Tunisair Express operates with four ATR turboprops and a single CRJ 900 jet.

Royal Jordanian Airlines is the flag carrier airline of Jordan. Its headquarters and operational hub are at capital city Amman. Its fleet consists of three Airbus A319s, six A329s, two A321s, 7 Boeing 787s, three E175s and two E195s. Cargo subsidiary Royal Jordanian cargo operates with an Airbus A310F.
