Airlines SBC AG acquires Belair

German SBC AG has announced to take over Swiss former Air Berlin subsidiary Belair Airlines AG.

The company, which is specialized in restructuring of bankrupt company’s aims at resuming operations as soon as possible. As the carrier requires a new AOC, the commence of operations is expected in the next months. SBC AG is cooperating with InAvia Aviation Consultants GmbH. Michael Hoevel will become the new CEO of Belair.

SBC AG plans to develop Belair into a charter- and wet-lease carrier. As the company states in a press release a direct ticket sale to customers is planned in the future.

All former employees are invited to contact the new management and to resume working for the new company.

Belair was founded in 2001 as charter carrier. In 2009 Air Berlin acquired a 49% stake in the Swiss carrier and integrated the airline into its European network. From its hubs in Zurich and Basel, Belair operated a fleet of one Airbus A320 and three A321 for Air Berlin and its Austrian subsidiary Niki. After Air Berlin’s insolvency and the cessation of operations the management of Belair was forced to wind up the Swiss carrier.
