The main shareholder of the Cambodian-based company Small Planet Airlines Co. Ltd is the Cambodian capital company Aviation Invest Cambodia, holding 51% of the shares. Small Planet Group owns 29% of the shares and the remaining 20% belong to the company’s chief executives. Small Planet Airlines Co. Ltd will fully use the name, branding and competence of the leisure carrier Small Planet Airlines.

“Small Planet Airlines has a unique business strategy. Due to a challenging seasonality in Europe, since 2012 we have been moving part of our fleet to Asia in winter. Last year we implemented highly successful projects in India, Saudi Arabia and Cambodia, and managed to fly more block hours in Asia than we did in Europe. Co-owning the Cambodian AOC is yet another important milestone in our efforts to maximize aircraft utilization and expand presence in Asia”, says Small Planet Airlines CEO Kristijonas Kaikaris.

Small Planet Airlines plans to operate 5 aircraft in Cambodia in winter season 2017/2018.

In September Small Planet Airlines announced an agreement with Cambodian Sky Angkor Airlines. The two airlines will cooperate flying tourists to Siem Reap in Cambodia from Chinese and South Korean cities for at least five years. Cooperation with Sky Angkor started during the winter of 2014, when two Small Planet Airlines aircraft began flying from Cambodia. In the winter of 2013, the Lithuanian company implemented the project with Bhutan Airlines and began flying passengers from Bangkok, Thailand to Paro, Bhutan.

The Lithuanian leisure carrier and its subsidiaries in Poland and Germany operate a fleet of 18 Airbus A320 and 4 A321 aircraft.

Cambodia is one of the fastest growing airline markets in South East Asia. Several airlines like Cambodia Angkor Air, Cambodia Bayon Airlines, Sky Angkor Airlines and the start-up Lanmei Airlines launched flights to several Asian destinations.
