To create new opportunities and to increase the overall global operating coverage, carriers SmarLynx and Global Crossing Airlines Group have entered into a strategic partnership. Previously, the airlines stated, that they are striving to implement a damp-lease exchange during peak traffic movement.

Global Crossing Airlines is a new carrier to enter the market. During the FAA certification process, the airlines have already been working together. The areas, in which the carriers exchanged knowledge were regulation and improvement processes for passenger and cargo operations.

With this expanded partnership, the airlines are able to explore more destinations, better cargo cooperations and new possibilities to offer clients mutual services. By using the aircraft where the demand is the highest during various times of a year, the airlines are able to reach their respective transportation goals.

Ed Wegel, the Chair and CEO of GlobalX, commented: “Our partnership with SmartLynx has already paid great dividends as we have used their deep experience with the A320 family of aircraft to improve our operations as we get ready for revenue service. We now look forward to taking this partnership to the next level by combining our sales and service efforts worldwide, and as well consulting on acquiring both passenger and cargo aircraft.”

SmartLynx CEO, Zygimantas Surintas added: “Synergy with GlobalX is to bring results in several aspects, and benefits for both us, and our strategic partner. SmartLynx brand is already established in the ACMI and charter market but working on competitive advantage is a constant effort. Joining forces with GlobalX will enable both companies to execute business strategies with lower operational risks and costs, creating additional value for our customers and attracting new ones. Additionally, we are happy to share our valuable know-how and industry experience, assisting GlobalX to improve their efficiency and results. The partnership is a step forward in our strategic plans for the cargo business model and plans of becoming one of the largest narrow-body cargo freight carriers within the next three years.”

SmartLynx Airlines is an EU-based airline and a specialist in full-service ACMI aircraft leasing solution. The airline is part of the Avia Solutions Group and mainly operates with Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. Currently, the airline is expanding with a SmartLynx Malta subsidiary, which is subject to FAA approval.

Global Crossing Airlines is a new airline to enter the market in the United States. The carrier intends to perform ACMI and wet lease charter operations. Preferred markets are the US, the Caribbean and Latin America. GlobalX plans to use Airbus A320 aircraft as well.
