Swiss regional carrier SkyWork Airlines has announced to immediately cease operations.

The Bern-Belp based carrier has ended all commercial operations after yesterday’s flight operations due to financial problems. SkyWork was unable to provide the financial guarantees necessary to continue its operations and will file for insolvency due to its debt.

Until the end the management tried to find partners and investors to continue the business and to prevent the imminent insolvency

“After failed negotiations with a possible partner the economic conditions for continuing operations are no longer in place. As a consequence, SkyWork Airlines voluntarily issues the operating permit to the Federal Office of Civil Aviation,” the carrier stated on its website.

In October 2017 the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (BAZL) announced the termination of SkyWork’s AOC after October of the airline fails to provide sufficient funds to operate the winter schedule 2017/18. After several cancelled flights, the airline was able to continue operations until now.

SkyWork Airlines was founded in 1983 operated a fleet of six Saab 2000 with 50 seats and a first Embraer 170 offering a capacity for 80 passengers. The regional airline offered flights from its hub Bern-Belp.
