After Laudamotion partnered up with the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair, Thomas Cook now seems to have removed the opportunity for Laudamotion customers to book their flights via the Condor website. Condor is a German 100% subsidiary of Thomas Cook.

It seems, that Condor has rebooked all Laudamotion passengers, who have booked via Condor´s website. According to media, many passengers were unhappy due to changed flying times. Condor has disabled all Laudamotion flights in its system.

In industry circles, two possible reasons for Condor´s move are being considered. Firstly, Laudamotion may have a problem with a shortage of manpower, which could endanger the airline´s operations. Laudamotion announced last week that it plans to increase the salary for its personnel.

Secondly, Thomas Cook may not want to support competitor Ryanair on detours. Admittedly, a Condor spokeswoman ensured that Laudamotion´s deal with Ryanair would not affect the partnership between the Austrian Start-Up and Thomas Cook. However, the British group now seems to have changed its mind.

In February 2018, Condor and Laudamotion announced a partnership. The German airline stated that it would sell Laudamotion tickets for flights from Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Basel to Spanish destinations Mallorca, Malaga and Ibiza.

Laudamotion had acquired former Air Berlin subsidiary airline Niki in January 2018, after Niki went bankrupt. The airline then partnered up with Condor and especially Ryanair. The Irish airline said, it would help Laudamotion getting started, by operating six wet-leased Boeing 737-800 for the Austrian low-cost Start-Up.
