The jet, which can accommodate 361 passengers, 21 in business, 16 in premium economy and 324 in economy class, arrived in mid-February in Kiev. Ukraine International Airlines plans to operate the jet with the registration UR-GOA on its long-haul routes to New York, Beijing and Bangkok. The jet is leased from AerCap, which has leased the 2001 built aircraft to Asiana Airlines before.

“The arrival of Boeing 777 redefines the UIA service,” noted Evgeniya Satska, UIA Communications Director. “We expect that our brand new aviation product will be highly appealing to both travelers from Ukraine and transit passengers. The latter empowers us to keep boosting transit traffic at Kiev Boryspil International Airport and developing our country’s transit potential.”

Ukraine International Airlines will receive three additional Boeing 777 until Q3 2018. The maintenance and reconfiguration will be performed by Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance, Amsterdam.

UIA operates 43 aircraft including Boeing 737 family, Boeing 767-300ER and Embraer 190. Currently, UIA fleet’s average age amounts to 11.9 years. The new Boeing 777 aircraft will increase the seating capacity on Ukraine International Airlines’ long-haul network, as the currently used Boeing 767-300ER offers only 261 seats.
