Ed Sims, WestJet President and CEO said: "The introduction of Boeing's 787-9 Dreamliner, a state-of-the-art aircraft, is the dawn of a new era for WestJet and the next step in our transformation to a global network airline [...] The updated livery is modern and dynamic while the interior is world-class, distinctly Canadian and uniquely WestJet. Both reflect WestJet's transition from a regional airline in 1996 to a new era of connecting Canada with the world and bringing the world to Canada."

With the presentation of the new Dreamliner configuration, WestJet has also presented its new logo and aircraft livery. Beginning from June 2018, all new delivered aircraft will wear the new livery. The first aircraft type to wear the new identity will be the Boeing 737 MAX 8.

WestJet stated: “The new livery will also marry both of Canada's official languages with, "The Spirit of Canada" appearing on one side of the aircraft and the French translation, "L'esprit du Canada" on the other, both extending across the middle of the aircraft fuselage.”

Recently, WestJet announced to establish a new route between Halifax and Paris Charles de Gaulle, starting May 31, 2018. Altogether, the airline will operate 777 daily flights on average and serve 90 destinations. The fleet being used for the operations consists of 125 aircraft, including Boeing B737-600, B737-700, B737-800, B737 MAX 8 and four Boeing B767-300.
