Airports Seoul Incheon opens Terminal 2
Seoul Incheon Airport has unveiled its new Terminal 2.
In less than a month, South Korea will be the host for the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. To handle the high numbers of passengers, Seoul’s Incheon Airport has opened its new Terminal 2. The building is able to handle 18 million additional passengers which brings Incheon’s capacity to 72 million passengers per year. The new $2.5 billion terminal is connected with the existing Terminal 1 via train.
Beside the home carrier Korean Air, its SkyTeam partner airlines Air France-KLM and Delta Air Lines will use the new Terminal for its long-haul operations. It is planned, that other SkyTeam members, like China Eastern Airlines, will be served in the new Terminal in the future.
Seoul Incheon Airport was opened in 2001 and handled over 62 million passengers in 2017. The airport holds a record for being ranked the best airport in the world for eleven consecutive years by the Airports Council International from 2005 to 2016. The airport will be used as major gateway for all visitors and participants of the Winter Olympics in February. A new high-speed train connection between the airport and PyeongChang was opened some weeks ago.
