Freight SF Airlines receives 50th freighter aircraft
- SF Airlines
Cargo airline SF Airlines has announced that it has received its 50th cargo aircraft. The new aircraft marks an important milestone for the carrier.
Only nine years after the successful maiden flight of SF Airlines, the carrier received its 50th freighter aircraft. The latest aircraft, a converted Boeing 757F, underlines that SF Airlines is now a medium-sized airline.
In a statement, SF Airlines said: "With the joining of the 50th transportation capacity, the operation and management of SF Airlines will embrace a brand new development phase. Safety management, infrastructure configuration, information system development, air route network layout, talent training and development that based on the fleet scale operation will upgrade in a comprehensive way."
Over the years, SF Airlines has grown to become the largest freight operator in the country. It operates the largest freight fleet in China and has established a network to provide seamless connections throughout the transportation process.
The carrier launched new special freighter transportation routes to e-commerce products. Moreover, SF Airlines started to fly crabs from Yangchang Lake, cherries from Yantai or lychees from Hainan. This diversity has led to the enormous growth the carrier experienced in recent years.
In the future, SF Airlines is expected to furthermore grow its business. China currently sees the privatization of the packet business, which delivers more demand for products that are being transported via air link.
SF Airlines is also expected to expand to other countries. For example, it is being rumoured that the airline is currently in talks with logistics giant UPS to merge their respective networks into one. Additionally, Atlas Air is currently operating one Boeing 747-400F for SF Airlines. The aircraft is commuting between China and the United States.
Initially, SF Airlines was founded and introduced to the market in 2009. By 2012, the fleet measured 10 freighter aircraft, by 2017 SF flew with 40 freighters. Last year in 2018, the airline added its first B747F to operations. Five Boeing 767Fs, 27 Boeing 757Fs, 14 Boeing 737-300Fs and three 737-400Fs belong to the fleet.
