General Aviation Embraer introduces the Praetor 500 and 600 business jets

Embraer has announced new midsize and super-midsize business jets, the Praetor 500 and Praetor 600.

During a company event at Orlando Executive Airport, the manufacturer announced the new Praetor 500 and 600 business jets. The aircraft will be on static display on 2018 National Business Aviation Association’s Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (NBAA-BACE).

Embraer hopes to introduce unequalled range into the aircraft´s respective categories. The Praetor 600 can fly nonstop between London and New York with four passengers on board and has a range of 3,00nm (7,223km).

The Praetor 500 will be the fastest midsize aircraft and will be able to connect Europe and the U.S. west coast with one fuel stop. Praetor 500 has a continental range of 3,250nm (6,019km).

At the moment, two Praetor 600 prototypes are in the flight test phase. Embraer hopes to certify the aircraft in the second quarter of 2019. With one production-conforming aircraft, the Praetor 500 series is also under development. The certification of the 500 is being targeted by Embraer for the third quarter of 2019.

All aircraft can be moved with full fly-by-wire technology and active turbulence reduction. Embraer has also announced a Bossa Nova interior edition over the course of the Praetor family introduction.

The new aircraft are being fitted with advanced technology. An Upper Tech Panel will be installed that offers cabin management futures and also displays information about the flight. All passengers aboard can experience high-speed connectivity through Ka-band from Viasat with speeds of up to 16Mbps. Moreover, the aircraft features Internet Protocol television (IPTV), an industry exclusive in midsize and super-midsize business jets.

In the cockpit, the Praetor jets feature a Rockwell Collings flight deck with systems to maximize situational awareness. An enhanced Vision System, a Head-up Display and a Video System will help to operate the aircraft safely.
