General Aviation First Boeing BBJ MAX takes to the skies

Boeing has announced, that the first Boeing Business Jet in the MAX version has taken off to its first flight. The aircraft will be delivered later this year.

The BBJ MAX will extend the range, performance and cabin comfort, compared to older BBJ models. The first aircraft will be based on the MAX 8 and awaits to be outfitted with an auxiliary fuel tank. Customers will be able to fly up to 6,640 nautical miles (12,297 km) in a standard configuration.

Greg Laxton, Head of Boeing Business Jets, said: "We are excited to see the first BBJ MAX come to life and fly through the development milestones. In the past few weeks, the airplane has achieved factory rollout, first flight, multiple certifications, and now flyway."

"The BBJ MAX will be able to connect distant cities like a widebody commercial jet. It's one of the reasons why this game-changing airplane outsold the competition four to one last year," Laxton added.

In total, 20 Boeing Business Jets MAX have been ordered to date. The orders include agreements for BBJ MAX 7, BBJ MAX 8 and BBJ MAX 9.

According to the US-American manufacturer, the MAX BBJ features a system, that provides a lower cabin altitude. Furthermore, the aircraft will be equipped with integrated airstairs, and more modern amenities.

Compared to its predecessors, the BBJ MAX will have lower operating costs, advanced avionics and new technologies.
