During a delivery ceremony at Brunswick, Georgia, Gulfstream has celebrated the delivery of the 600th G550 business jet. This delivery represents a huge milestone in the manufacturer´s G550 program.

Mark Burns, president at Gulfstream, commented on the importance of the aircraft: “The G550 has solidified its place as one of the most dependable business jets available [...] More than 20 percent of Gulfstream aircraft in service are G550s, proving its reputation as an established and versatile aircraft for business aviation.”

In 2003, Gulfstream celebrated the first delivery of an G550. Since then, it has established itself in the general aviation market and is a popular choice under business jet operators or private buyers. For its technological and safety innovations, the aircraft received the Robert J. Collier Trophy in 2003.

“The G550 is also a popular choice for special missions and government configurations,” said Burns. “The flexibility and adaptability of the aircraft make it an ideal platform for challenging missions.”

Gulfstream has equipped its G550 aircraft with Rolls-Royce BR710 engines that allow the aircraft to fly 6,750 nautical miles (12,501 kilometres) at Mach 0.8, meaning the G550 can connect Tokyo and Palm Beach or Shanghai and London nonstop.

The cabin can be configured in various versions. It can accommodate up to 19 passengers and sleep up to eight. Moreover, it can be outfitted with special government applications, including aeromedical evacuation, head-of-state transport, airborne early warning, atmospheric research or maritime patrol.

The G550 is part of the comprehensive Gulfstream fleet that includes the G280, the GG500, the 550, the G600, the G650, the G650ER and the G700. Over the years, the manufacturer has become one of the leading players in the business jet section.

Just recently, Gulfstream was able to announce the delivery of the 400th G650 family aircraft. In October last year, the 25th G500 was delivered.
