Helitrans has become the first customer to take delivery Airbus Helicopters using a new E-Delivery process. The Norwegian operator, which is based in Trondheim, has accepted two H125 helicopters.

Due to the Coronavirus, deliveries were difficult as it required physical meetings or travel. With the new process, Airbus ensures compliance with the COVID-19 health and safety restrictions issued by the government.

The whole system relies on the customer acceptation flight-test and further inspection findings, which are authorized by Airbus staff in place of the operator´s own employees.

Main elements of the E-Delivery system are video inspection of the helicopter with loose object check. All items and the aircraft documentation have been disinfected by Airbus. A summary information was presented via an online video conference between Airbus and authorized dealers Østnes and Helitrans

Airbus Helicopters Executive Vice President of Global Business, Ben Bridge, commented: “We are acutely aware of the challenges faced by our customers in the current difficult environment and we are doing all we can to support them - including maintaining scheduled deliveries. At the same time the health and safety of our employees is our number one priority. Fortunately, we have built a level of trust with key customers over the years that has made this innovative process possible.”

Helitrans Managing Director Richard Andre Simonsen added: “Even at this difficult time there are critical business activities that we need to undertake, and we appreciate the support of everyone involved in making this delivery happen in a safe manner. It is a reflection of our confidence in each other that we are able to do this.”

The new H125 helicopters will help Helitrans to expand its helicopter fleet. Helitrans is mainly offering services like firefighting, charter, sightseeing, surveillance or construction flights. The Norwegian operator has mainly used Airbus Helicopter aircraft in the past and is a known customer to Airbus.
