Industry Air Lease Corporation orders 75 B737 MAX 8s and three B787-9s

Boeing and Air Lease Corporation (ALC) have announced, that the leasing company has ordered 78 Boeing jets worth $9.6 billion.

ALC´s order consists of 75 Boeing B737 MAX 8 and three B787-9 aircraft. The three B787-9 and the first 20 737 MAX 8s are firm orders, whereas the remaining MAX aircraft are commitments.

The deal was signed over the course of the Farnborough International Airshow 2018 (FIA2018) to satisfy the commercial aviation market demand.

In total, ALC has now committed for or ordered 361 Boeing aircraft since 2010. This includes 288 B737s, 52 B787 Dreamliners and 21 B777s.

Boeing´s newest aircraft family, the MAX series features a modern cabin, state-of-the-art avionics and enhanced aerodynamics with new winglets. Moreover, the aircraft is more fuel efficient and is more environmentally friendly than its predecessors. ALC´s MAX aircraft are being powered by LEAP-1B engines from CFM International. To date, over 100 customers have ordered 4,600 MAX aircraft.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the other hand is a long-range aircraft. It uses 20 percent less fuel than the aircraft it replaces. The 787 entered service in 2011and allowed airlines to launch over 180 non-stop routes. A total of 1,400 787 have been ordered from 70 worldwide customers.
