Industry Air Peace orders 10 E195-E2
African carrier Air Peace has announced, that it has ordered 10 E195-E2 aircraft to boost its regional network.
A firm order deal was signed in Port Louis between carrier Air Peace and Brazilian manufacturer Embraer. The order was announced during an Africa Airline Business Seminar, which was organised by Embraer.
With this order, Air Peace is set to become the first African airline to operate jets of the E2 family. Besides, the deal also includes purchase rights for Air Peace for a further 20 E195-E2. When all purchase rights are being taken, the contract would have a value of approximately US$ 2.12 billion, according to current list prices.
Chairman/CEO of Air Peace, Mr Allen Onyema, said: “Embraer’s new E195-E2 presents us with a marvel of an economic performance. It’s also great that we will be the first E2 operator on the African continent. We already have the ERJ145s in our fleet, so we understand the high standards of Embraer products.”
Arjan Meijer, Chief Commercial Officer, Embraer Commercial Aviation, added: “Air Peace embodies the kind of pioneering spirit that Embraer loves. The airline was established to bring highly skilled work opportunities to the people of Nigeria and to boost connectivity, which in turn significantly contributed to the economy in the region. Air Peace has delivered successfully on both aims and has become a fast-growing successful airline. It’s great to now have them onboard the E2 as well.”
Air Peace started operations in 2014 and was initially founded a year before. The carrier has its headquarters at Ikeja, Nigeria and a head office in Lagos State. The carrier provides passenger and charter services to various Nigerian, Gambian and Ghanaian cities. Currently, the fleet consists of 13 Boeing 737s, two 777-200s, one 777-300, one Do 328-300 and six ERJ 145s.
The Embraer ERJ 145s are being operated by subsidiary carrier Air Peace Hopper. This experience with an Embraer product was a key factor for Air Peace in selecting the E195-E2. Embraer´s E2-series is an advancement of the popular e-jet family, which to date has logged more than 1,800 orders and 1,500 deliveries.
With state-of-the-art avionics and aerodynamical advantages, the E2-family is more environmentally friendly and cost-saving. Good operational costs are making the aircraft a popular choice for regional carriers. The E2-family consists of the E175-E2, E190-E2 and the E195-E2.
