“We are very proud to receive the first Airbus A320Neo fully assembled in Tianjin, China and we would like to congratulate Airbus, as well as the Chinese Government for achieving yet another milestone. China is today one of the world’s most important markets for aviation, and we are honoured to be part of the development and rapid growth of China’s civil aviation. We are certainly proud to take delivery of this aircraft fully assembled in Tianjin and have this historic aircraft as part of our fleet”, said Aireen Omar, the Chief Executive Officer of AirAisa.

Additionally, it has been the first production line outside of Europe. Now, almost ten years later, 340 aircraft have been delivered and assembled from Tianjin in China. In 2015 Airbus opened an additional assembly line in Mobile, Alabama in the USA.

Airbus launched the A320Neo Family program in December 2010 and the first flight of the A320Neo took place on 25 September 2014. The model, delivered to AirAsia is powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines and is configured with 186 seats.
