In the past half year, Airbus was able to notate 206 orders for commercial aircraft with gross orders of 261 aircraft, including 50 A350 XWBs and 14 A300s. Compared to Half-Year 2017, this reflects a slight increase on orders (203 aircraft in Half-Year 2017).

As of June 30, 2018, Airbus´ order backlog totalled 7,168 commercial aircraft. In the first half of this year, Airbus delivered 303 commercial aircraft to worldwide customers. The orders comprise 239 A320 Family aircraft, 18 A330s, 40 A350 XWBs and six A380s.

Airbus Chief Executive Officer Tom Enders said: “The first half financials reflect the back-loaded deliveries due to A320neo engine shortages, while on the positive side there was a strong improvement on the A350 programme [...] A320neo aircraft deliveries picked up during the second quarter but challenges remain to meet our full year targets. Market demand remains strong for the expanded Airbus portfolio that now includes the A220 at the smaller end.”

During the Farnborough International Airshow 2018, Airbus finalized business for more than 430 single-aisle and wide-body aircraft. Still, the manufacturer´s focus is on ramping up the production. A fourth A320 Family production line was opened in Hamburg-Finkenwerder in June.

Regarding Airbus´ largest military programme, the A400M, Enders stated, that the manufacturer is making progress regarding operations, capabilities and negotiations with possible governmental customers. A total of eight A400M were delivered.

Airbus Helicopters finalized deals for 143 units, showing a slight decrease compared to last year´s results (151 units), while 141 helicopters were delivered to customers.

Altogether, consolidated revenues were stable at €25 billion. This number reflects the weakening of the US dollar and the aircraft delivery mix, as well as perimeter changes. The consolidated EBIT Adjusted totalled €1,162 Million in this year´s first half.

Looking into the future, Airbus targets to deliver around 800 commercial aircraft in this year, including the new A220 program. A total of 18 A220s are targeted to be delivered in the year´s second half. Moreover, the A220 integration is expected to reduce EBIT Adjusted, to reduce Free Cash Flow and to increase the net cash impact.
