The simulator will be for training on the ATR 72-600 and is EASA and FAA-certified. This enables ATR to train crew members. In July 2018, the FFS will commence its operations. The new addition is set to perform 4,500 training hours per year.

ATR is headquartered in Toulouse-Blagnac and therefore hosts several other simulators. Along with the new ATR 72-600 FFS, the company hosts simulators for ATR 42-300/500 and 72-200/500 aircraft. Recently, ATR equipped its Training Centre at Paris with a brand-new ATR 72-600 FFS.

Tom Anderson, Senior Vice-President Programs and Customer Services of ATR, said: “The gradual extension of ATR’s training capacity is our key contribution to solving the global pilot shortage. We are committed to support our customers’ and operators’ forthcoming expansion plans, and will continue to add training capacity, as global demand requires it, for us to remain the regional leader worldwide.”

With its training facilities at Toulouse, Paris, Singapore, Johannesburg and Miami, ATR annually performs over 100,000 training hours with around 3,500 trainees.
