Industry Aviatar to optimize maintenance operations at United Airlines

United Airlines has announced, that it has become the latest user of Lufthansa Technik´s Aviatar platform.

United Airlines has become the latest airline to join Lufthansa Technik AG´s platform Aviatar. The airline signed the contract in late 2020 and has now announced that over 600 aircraft are entering the platform over course of the agreement.

With Aviatar, United Airlines will optimize its maintenance operations and will jointly develop new digital solution for Boeing 737 fleets. Digital support through Aviatar will be made available for the carrier´s Boeing 777 and Airbus A320fleet.

Together with Lufthansa Technik, United Airlines seeks to develop new Boeing 737 fleet solution. United is the third largest 737 operator in the world and has valuable experience in engineering and data expertise. These information will help the companies to leverage their specific strengths in order to develop unique predictive maintenance solutions.

Kurt Carpenter, United Vice President of Technical Operations Planning and Strategy, said: "By leveraging AVIATAR's digital platform, our tech-ops professionals can access data, insights and recommendations that help us optimize our operations and reduce flight delays or cancellations caused by maintenance issues [...] We are excited to collaborate with Lufthansa Technik on this innovative digital maintenance solution which represents the future of aircraft maintenance program management."

Johannes Bussmann, CEO of Lufthansa Technik, added: "Innovative digital solutions are a cornerstone of our corporate strategy and joining forces with United Airlines as a leading global airline is a strong signal for the aviation market [...] Together with United Airlines we will further improve digital TechOps on a large scale and look forward to jointly creating new use cases for advanced digital technologies."

Aviatar was launched in 2017 by Lufthansa Technik. The platform is focusing on digital products and services developed by the company. Aviatar offers its users services from predictive maintenance to fulfilment and automated solutions that enhance the operational performance and efficiency.

Lufthansa Technik is part of the Lufthansa Group and mainly provides maintenance, completions, MRO and component services. The company is located at Hamburg, Germany and has offices and facilities around the world.
