Based on the list price the deal is worth $1.1 billion. If Egypt Air will exercise the purchase rights the contract value could be doubled.

“We selected the C Series aircraft because its excellent range will allow us to best service domestic and regional destinations, including neighboring Arab cities, the Middle East as well as several European destinations,” said Safwat Musallam, Chairman and CEO of Egypt Air Holding Company.

Nathalie Siphenghet, Senior Advisor for Media Relations and Public Affairs told AVIPEO.COM that Bombardier aims at finalizing the deal until the end of the year.

Regarding further deal announcements during the Dubai Airshow Nathalie Siphenghet stated “It is always exciting announcing deals during air shows. (..) The momentum is there and there is a lot of enthusiasm regarding the C Series.”

Bombardier and Airbus announced a partnership for the C Series program in October.

Egypt Air is the flag carrier of the African country and member of the Star Alliance. The carrier based in Cairo currently operates a fleet of 50 aircraft to more than 70 destinations and about 60 countries around the world. The new ordered Bombardier CS300 could be used for their Egypt Air Express regional airline subsidiary that currently operates a fleet of 12 Embraer E170.
