“Since the program was launched, the first half of 2018 has been our target, and now we are making good on this commitment. This was only possible thanks to the excellence of our engineering process due to our unique experience in certifying 12 new aircraft in the last 17 years,” said John Slattery, President & CEO, Embraer Commercial Aviation. The company launched its program on the Paris Air Show in 2013 with the first version of the new generation aircraft, the E190-E2. The plane took off for its first flight on May 23, 2016.

Widerøe has signed a contract for 15 Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. The carrier is a large regional airline operating in the Scandinavian countries. It was founded in 1934 and has hubs in Bergen, Bodø, Oslo, Standefjord and Tromsø. It was bought by SAS Group in the 2000s and took over the regional routes in Western Norway. Widerøe currently operates a total of 41 planes of the type Dash-8 in different versions with up to 78 seats. With the Embraer 190-E2, Widerøe would integrate its first jet into its fleet.

Embraer has its headquarter in Sao José dos Campos in Sao Paulo State in Brasilia. The company was founded in 1969 and produces commercial, military, executive and agricultural aircraft. Embraer is one of the world’s leading supplier of commercial jets with up to 150 seats and is mainly used in the regional flight segment. The E2 models are powered by Pratt & Whitney’s PW1700G and PW1900G engines.
