Embraer’s E190-E2 has completed its continental tour of Africa with stops in Algeria, Morocco, Kenya, Ghana, Mauritius and South Africa. The E190-E2 is Embraer’s new generation of aircraft, perfectly suited to Africa's intra-regional and national markets. It travelled the continent in a special "shark" design.

“The debut of the E190-E2 in Africa is an excellent opportunity for Embraer to show off this ground-breaking aircraft that sets new standards in profitability for airlines and comfort levels for passengers,” said Raul Villaron, Vice President, Sales, for Middle East & Africa, Embraer Commercial Aviation. “The E190-E2 cuts fuel burn by more than 17% and is perfectly suited to operate in hot and harsh environments.”

With 70 percent of intra-regional and domestic flights operated by narrow-body aircrafts with fewer that 130 passengers, the E190-E2 also responds to the African market’s need for right sizing. Embraer feels committed to the region offering highly efficient right-sized aircraft with up to 150 seats.

Over the next 20 years Africa’s air transport market is expected to grow by 4,8% measured in RPK. This growth means an extra of 270 million passengers for the market. Tourism and trade are expected to expand as many sectors of Africa’s economy see high growth rates.

Embraer manufactures commercial jets up to 150 seats with 100 customers all over the world. Founded in 1969, the company is headquartered in Brazil. Embraer aircrafts transport over 145 million passengers per year.
