Industry Gulf Air receives first Airbus A320 Neo

Bahrain’s flag carrier Gulf Air has received the first Airbus A320 Neo.

The aircraft is the first of the 29 A320 Neo Family aircraft ordered during the 2016 Bahrain International Airshow. Gulf Air has ordered a total of 12 A320 Neo, eight A321 Neo and nine A321 LR for long-haul single-aisle operations.

 This delivery also makes Gulf Air the first Middle Eastern national carrier to fly the A320 Neo.

Gulf Air is one of the smaller airlines in the Middle East region connecting Bahrain International Airport with over 50 destinations in over 25 countries. The airline offers flights to destinations in the Middle East region, Africa, Asia and Europe.

Gulf Air currently operates a fleet of 16 Airbus A320 and six A321 on its short- and medium haul route network. For its international routes, the carrier has ordered sixteen Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner, of which three have been delivered in the last months. Additionally, Gulf Air operates six Airbus A330-300.

Airbus has received more than 6,100 orders from over 100 customers for the A320 Neo Family.
