Adjacent to the MRO facilities of FL Technics, MAAS Aviation has now opened a new purpose-built paint shop at Kaunas Airport in Lithuania. Together, the companies will combine their strengths in MRO and painting and exterior coatings to create a re-delivery center.

With the combined competences of the companies, this partnership seeks for leasing companies that are looking for an attractive proposition. The partnership minimises aircraft ground time, as many processes can be performed in the facilities. The complexity will be lower and the economical value higher for customers.

Saulius Bajarunas, COO – FL Technics, commented: “As we are headquartered in Lithuania we are excited to be in a position to help MAAS Aviation launch their brand new facility in Kaunas.“, states Zilvinas Lapinskas, CEO – FL Technics. “Integrations with trusted partners, such as MAAS Aviation, to deliver complex MRO (base maintenance) services, covering nose-to-tail aircraft delivery, painting and remarketing projects is a key focus for us from 2021 onwards.“

Tim Macdougald, CEO – MAAS Aviation, added: “Demand for our paint shops has always exceeded supply, so this additional capacity supports our growth ambitions and represents a logical next step for us [...] Our partnership with FL Technics will enable us to combine services for the benefit of airline and leasing company customers that value technologically and environmentally advanced facilities. Together we can offer an outstanding aircraft asset redelivery centre-of-excellence.”

With the opening of the new Kaunas facility, MAAS Aviation has increased its European MRO capacity by 40%. This allows the airline, especially in the post-Covid times, when airlines are flying normally again, to serve more customers during peak seasons.

The paint shop can accommodate up to two Airbus A321 aircraft at the same time, the first of its kind in the country. Over the past years, MAAS Aviation has experienced a strong grow in aircraft painting demand. MAAS currently has 11 paint shops, three of them are located at Airbus´ assembly facilitiy in Hamburg-Finkenwerder.

FL Technics is providing aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services to customers mainly from Europe. Last year, the company had 70 stations and has become the largest base maintenance support network in the world.
