U.S.-American company Otto Aviation has introduced the Celera 500L, a new ultra-efficient passenger aircraft and, according to the company, the most fuel-efficient commercially viable passenger aircraft in the world.

A full-scale prototype has been constructed, which already has completed 31 successful test flights. Otto Aviation holds seven patents that ensure the credibility and potential of the Celera 500L.

With a maximum cruise speed of 450 miles per hour and a range of over 4,500 nautical miles, the Celera 500L only needs 18-25 miles per gallon. This dramatic reduction in fuel consumption makes the aircraft the most environmentally friendly aircraft in its class.

William Otto Sr., Chairman and Chief Scientist of Otto Aviation commented: “Innovation at its core is solving a problem without conventional bias. Our goal was to create a private aircraft that would allow for direct flights between any city pair in the U.S. at speeds and cost comparable to commercial air travel [...] In many cases, individuals and families will be able to charter the Celera 500L at prices comparable to commercial airfares, but with the added convenience of private aviation. We believe when the price of private air travel is competitive with commercial air travel, an enormous market opportunity will result.

Otto Aviation´s Celera 500L also feature a large cabin and is using extensive laminar flow over the fuselage, tail and wing surfaces in order to reduce drag and achieve better fuel efficiency, speed and superior aerodynamics.

Otto added: “We believe the Celera 500L is the biggest thing to happen to both the aviation and travel industries in 50 years. Beyond using our aircraft for passenger travel, it can also be used for cargo operations and military applications. Since the results from our prototype test flights have been so promising, we’re ready to bring the Celera 500L to market.”

Otto Aviation was founded in2008 and is hoping to usher a new generation of how people and parcels fly. The company is using advanced technologies and design to find new solutions on known problems and challenges within the aviation industry.
