The deal was agreed earlier in 2018 and was confirmed by Airbus on FIA2018. 10 Airbus A350-900s will be added to Sichuan AirlinesĀ“ fleet over the coming years.

Sichuan Airlines operates an all-Airbus fleet, the largest in China with over 130 Airbus aircraft.

The carrier aims to use their A350 XWBs on non-stop international routes between Chengdu and North America or Europe. Currently, Sichuan Airlines operates on over 30 international routes like from Chengdu to Dubai, Vancouver, Sidney and Moscow. The A350 XWB would be a suitable aircraft for such routes.

Sichuan Airlines had previously leased four A350 XWB, with the first one to be delivered this year. Moreover, the first A350 XWB will be wearing a special livery.

AirbusĀ“A350 XWB family is said to be shaping future of long-haul air travel. Low operational costs and fuel efficiency are the most crucial arguments for the aircraft. As of June 2018, Airbus has received total orders for 882 A350 XWB aircraft from 46 customers worldwide. The aircraft already counts as being one of the most successful wide-body aircraft ever.

Sichuan Airlines is a Chinese operator, headquartered at the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. The airline was founded in 1086 and commenced operations in 1988. Its current fleet consists of 135 aircraft, including 23 Airbus A319s, 60 A320, 40 A321s and 12 A330s.
