Industry SkyWest inks deals to purchase 20 Embraer E175
Embraer and SkyWest have announced, that the operator has signed a firm deal to purchase 20 Embraer E175 jets.
SkyWest has ordered 20 new Embraer E175. According to last year´s list prices, the deal is valued at approximately USD 972 million. Embraer has revealed, that the order is already included in Embraer´s 2019 fourth-quarter backlog.
“Embraer and SkyWest enjoy a partnership marked by a longstanding history of service to the mainline carriers, and we relish the opportunity to break new ground,” said Charlie Hillis, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, North America, Embraer Commercial Aviation. “Today, we are excited to announce that these 20 new aircraft will be the first E-Jets operated by SkyWest within the American Airlines network.”
Deliveries of the aircraft are expected to begin in the second half of 2020. With the new aircraft, SkyWest seeks to underline its presence in the North American regional aviation market. All 20 E175s will be configured with 76 seats.
“We’re pleased to continue advancing our position in the industry with this latest order of new Embraer aircraft,” said Chip Childs, President and Chief Executive Officer of SkyWest, Inc. “We appreciate the long-standing partnership with Embraer and look forward to operating this outstanding aircraft for all four of our mainline partners.”
SkyWest flies for American Airlines, United Airways, Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines. In total, the operator performs 2,300 departures on average per day. Delta and United are the largest customer for SkyWest.
The current fleet of SkyWest consists of nearly 500 aircraft, from which are 136 Embraer E175 aircraft and 337 Bombardier CRJ200, CRJ700 and CRJ900 aircraft. Last year, the carrier operated flights for 40 million passengers.
This latest order underlines SkyWest´s satisfaction with the Embraer E175. This variant is one of the smallest of the E-Jet family. Embraer also produces the E170, E190 and E195 and has logged almost 1,800 orders and 1,500 deliveries since the family´s introduction.
