Industry Uzbekistan Airways orders additional 787-8 Dreamliner

Boeing and Uzbekistan Airways have announced, that they have finalized an order for an additional 787-8 Dreamliner for the carrier.

The deal is valued at $239 million at current list prices. Uzbekistan Airways is currently modernizing and expanding its fleet.

To date, Uzbekistan Airways already operates with two Boeing 787-8 on routes to Europe, USA, Japan and Southeast Asia (Registered as UK78701 and UK78702). With the new order, the flag carrier expects to take delivery of five additional 787-8 aircraft in the coming years.

Uzbekistan Airways will configurate their 787-8 in a two-class configuration. 24 passengers can be accommodated in business class, while the aircraft holds space for 222 economy passengers.

Gennadiy Kharlap, Deputy General Director of Uzbekistan Airways, added: “Our companies have been partners for over 20 years and these relations only strengthen with time […] The agreement for an additional Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner supports our development strategy focused on modernization and expansion of the airline's fleet and network, and marks another great milestone in our long-term cooperation.”

Uzbekistan Airways is the flag carrier of Uzbekistan and operates from Tashkent International Airport, where the airline is also headquartered. The fleet consists of 28 aircraft, including 10 Airbus A320s, four Boeing 757s, nine Boeing 767s, two Boeing 787-8s and three Avro RJ aircraft. Uzbekistan Airways serves 24 countries on 94 routes.
