The agreement includes slots for 15 Boeing 737NextGen and A320 family aircraft. Weeltug is an innovative aircraft e-taxi company.

Since Germania is the only German airline, which operates both Boeing 737NextGen and A320 family aircraft, the regional airline is likely to be the customer. Wheeltug stated, that the airline has not been made public yet.

Isaiah Cox, WheelTug CEO, said: "Following the recent signings of SunExpress and Kenya Airways, we at WheelTug are pleased to welcome our third airline of the year to our roster. This signing represents clear momentum as we continue to pursue certification for Boeing 737NG aircraft."

The Wheeltug system consists of electric motors, which are being installed in the nose-gear wheels of an aircraft. With the motors, full mobility and better autonomy is guaranteed. With Wheeltug, Pilots can pushback and taxi without the usage of pushback-trucks, or tow-tractors. By that, an airline can improve its efficiency and reliability of its ground ops.

Currently, Germania operates with 12 Airbus A319, five Airbus A321 and 10 Boeing 737NextGen. In the near future, the carrier will phase out its 737NextGen aircraft.
